Lecture for 7/25: Picasso 1930s (Part 1)

After listening/watching this and just thinking about the other famous artist we've gone over in class - it seems to me in order to be famous or really, really good at your craft you some how half to be "crazy"? Or have some serious issues... Is that or was that the "in thing" back then because you don't see it as much now as you did with the great ones from art history... any takers on this or am I alone on this one??

  2. I think that you don't have to be crazy to be famous, but it most certainly doesn't help. I think that the more outrageous you are, it sort of translates over into your work. People catch wind of them and the artist winds up being famous. There's plenty of other artists who aren't half as crazy as artists like Dechamp. I do believe that women also tend to be a little more "stable" like Georgia O'Keefe.
